A head start on your health

A clear picture of your health, while everything still feels fine.

Most of us feel mostly fine, get on with a busy life, and let a proper check slide down the list. The things most worth knowing about, your heart, your bloods, the screening you are due, tend to take shape quietly, long before you would notice them.

A health assessment is the chance to get in front of all that. An unhurried appointment, the right tests done properly, and a clear baseline you can act on, with a GP who will still be here next year to follow it through with you. You leave knowing exactly where you stand, where you are headed, and what is worth doing now to stay strong and performing at your best for years to come.

health assessment Paddington

A comprehensive health assessment, built around you.

A health assessment at Paddington Doctors is an unhurried appointment with a GP that takes a full look at your health: your heart and cardiovascular risk, your metabolic health, your energy, your wellbeing, and the screening you are due for. You leave with a clear baseline, a written plan, and a doctor who will follow it through with you.

If you have been searching for a full body health check or a periodic health assessment in Paddington, this is where most people start. It is built around you, not a tick-box list. Bring as much or as little as you like. Nothing is compulsory, and you set the agenda alongside your GP.

A check that steps up to suit you

Health assessments work as a ladder, so you only do as much as you need.

  • An entry check (our Well Man and Well Woman checks) is the front door: a focused look at the things that matter at your age and stage, with the bloods and a written summary.
  • The full 90-minute medical and lifestyle assessment goes deeper: heart and cardiovascular risk, body composition, energy and fitness, mental wellbeing, and a clear read on where your health is headed for the years ahead.
  • Ongoing care or a management plan is where it leads if it is worthwhile, so the plan you leave with actually gets followed through, not filed away.

What a health assessment covers

  • A thorough history and whatever is on your mind
  • Heart, blood pressure and cardiovascular risk
  • Weight, metabolic health and lifestyle, including medical weight management where it is useful
  • Energy, sleep, mood and wellbeing
  • The cancer screening and preventative checks you are due for
  • Pathology (the bloods)
  • A full written report, with clear recommendations and next steps

Who's it for?

A health assessment suits anyone who would rather get ahead of their health than wait for something to go wrong. It is for the busy executive who has not had a proper check in years, the professional who likes to stay on top of things, anyone whose weight or energy has shifted, and people moving into the stretch of life where prevention pays off most. It is not for someone after a five-minute script and out the door. It is a thorough, unhurried look at the whole picture, with a GP you can keep.

People Managing Their Weight

Your weight has crept up and the usual changes are not shifting it. Medical weight management looks at the whole picture, your metabolism, your bloods, your lifestyle and the medical options that may suit you. Your GP can build a plan that fits your life and review it with you over time.

Image

Active Retirees

Staying well takes a bit of attention now, the regular check-ins, the vaccinations, keeping an eye on what matters at your age. You want a steady GP who knows your history and helps you stay independent and active for as long as possible. That continuity is what we are built on.

Image

Busy Executives

Something has shifted in the last year or two, your energy, your sleep, your blood pressure. You want a GP who will run the bloods properly, do the preventative work, and give you a real baseline and a written plan, once a year, from someone who will still be here next year.

Working Well Professionals

You look after yourself and would rather get ahead of things than wait for them to go wrong. What is harder to find is a GP with time for the whole picture, who you can stay with as life changes. That is who we are here to be, for preventative care, family planning and the rest.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a health assessment?

A health assessment is an unhurried appointment with a GP that takes a full look at your health: your heart and cardiovascular risk, your metabolic health, your energy and wellbeing, and the preventative screening you are due for. It includes pathology where needed, and you leave with a written report and a clear plan you can act on.

What is the difference between a health assessment and an executive health check?

They are the same idea at different depths. An entry check is a focused look at the things that matter at your age, while the full 90-minute medical and lifestyle assessment goes deeper into your cardiovascular risk, body composition, energy and where your health is headed. Your GP will help you choose the right one for you.

How much does a health assessment cost?

It depends on the length and type of assessment, with a shorter entry check and a longer full medical and lifestyle assessment available. A Medicare rebate applies to many consultations, and some health assessments and care plans attract a rebate too. Every fee, including rebates, is published on our fees page at paddingtondoctors.com/fees.

Am I eligible for a Medicare-rebated health assessment?

You may be. Medicare funds certain health assessments and care plans based on your age and circumstances, including heart health checks and assessments around the 45 to 49 age group. Your GP will let you know what you are eligible for at your appointment.

Do I need a referral?

No. You do not need a referral to book a health assessment with a GP. Book online through AutoMed or call reception on (02) 9072 1660.

How long does a health assessment take?

It depends on the assessment you choose, from a focused entry check through to the full 90-minute medical and lifestyle assessment. The team will help you book the right length when you make your appointment.
