Why having your flu vaccine at your GP makes a difference
While flu vaccines are available in many settings, having your vaccination at your GP practice means your care is tailored specifically to you.
Your medical history, current medications, and any existing conditions are all taken into account, ensuring the vaccine is appropriate and timed correctly. It also allows us to update your records, identify any other preventative care you may be due for, and answer any questions you might have in the moment.
For many patients, it is also a simple way to stay connected with their regular care team.
We are really pleased to now offer the flu mist vaccine for eligible children. This is a gentle, needle free option that is given as a simple nasal spray, making the experience much easier for little ones who may feel anxious about injections.
For many families, this can take the stress out of vaccination appointments and help children feel more comfortable and relaxed.
Who is eligible for the flu mist vaccine
- Children aged 2 years up to under 5 years
- Children who are otherwise well and suitable for this
type of vaccine
Some children may not be suitable for the flu mist vaccine, including those with certain medical conditions. Our team will guide you on the best option for your child.
Why parents are loving this option
- No needles, which can reduce fear and anxiety
- Quick and easy to administer
- A more positive experience for children and parents alike
There have been recent updates to RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) vaccinations, with expanded government funding now available for eligible patients.
From 15 May 2026, a single dose of the RSV vaccine (Arexvy) will be funded under the National Immunisation Program for:
• All adults aged 75 years and over
• Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander adults aged 60 years and over
RSV is a common respiratory virus that can lead to more serious illness in older adults and those at higher risk, particularly during the winter months.
If you or a family member fall into one of these groups, we encourage you to speak with your GP or our reception team about booking your vaccination.
Our team is always happy to guide you and make sure you are protected heading into the colder season.
